Eight ‘Muscles’ volunteers returned to Maxine’s home in Ipswich on Saturday 9th August to complete a series of projects inside the house and the garden. In addition to the fencing project, the expertise of Dougie Paine introduced Maxine to specialist skills requiring patience and protective clothing.
Every Muscles team member has been touched by Maxine’s amazing spirit as she faces end of life challenges, summed up in her own words, “I am a daughter of Caribbean immigrants, I am 50 years young, I am a mother to my beautiful daughter, I am a sister, I am a registered nurse, I am a friend. I have terminal cancer and I am still me”
Maxine summed up the Muscles team effort with the following comment,”I am so glad that I had the opportunity to meet you all and to introduce you to my family. I must say that, as a group, the generosity, goodwill and aura you bring will remain with me for ever”
